Portable toilets are the setting for many pranks around a construction site, but I never thought there could be something worse than just getting stuck in one.  Turns out I was extremely wrong, because a worker in New Orleans was run over by a dump truck while using the port-a-john.

On only his second day on the job, a 28 year old construction worker suffered multiple pelvic fractures, a collapsed right lung, and possible internal bleeding after the truck hit him, according to The New Orleans Advocate.  Crews are busy working on the Louis Armstrong Airport Expansion project, which is a $1 billion project and is expected to be completed next year.

A Kenner, Louisiana police spokesperson told The Advocate that the worker is expected to recover, but was admitted into intensive care. The dump truck driver was not cited by police, since the event occurred on private property.

If your portable toilets are not positioned out of harm’s way on your current jobs, now’s the time to reevaluate their location. We hope this worker makes a full recovery.
