In June, Milwaukee Tool hosted its annual New Product Symposium, which gave members of the media a sneak peak of the new products the red tool manufacturer would release the rest of the year. One of the highlights for us in the M12/M18 category was the ultra-portable and convenient 7 ¼” Cordless Miter Saw.
This week, Milwaukee made the release of the new tool officially and announced a release date of September 2017. The 18V miter saw is currently the only 7 ¼” cordless miter saw that bevels both left and right (both up to 48 degrees). At only 28 pounds, the saw still packs plenty of power, as it delivers 5,000 RPM and can make around 600 cuts on 3 ¼” base board on one charge of the XC5.0 battery.
Paired with Milwaukee’s new lightweight Miter Saw Stand, which weighs around 30 pounds, this is one of the most mobile saws on the market, which is great for interior remodels and trim installers. The sliding function allows users to cut up to a 2×8 at 90 degrees and a 3 ½” vertically. In lieu of a laser guide, dual LEDs on either side of the blade deliver a shadow line onto the material, which the company said is more reliable. We’re looking forward to testing its accuracy in the future.
As a bare tool (2733-20), the M18 FUEL 7-1/4″ Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw will retail for $399. Kitted with an SC 5.0 battery and charger (2733-21), retail cost will be $499.
